Performance Anti-patterns in Cologne

The Cologne JUG, run by Michael Huettermann, has kindly extended an invitation for me to speak there on December 6^th. I plan on giving my performance anti-patterns talk.

I always try to attend JUG meetings when they are in the area. Fortunately I’ve been able to attend a few of the meetings in Cologne. The atmosphere has always been terrific and attendance has always been good. I know that there is a great deal of organizational work that goes into planning these meetings. One needs to do the promotional work, update websites, find suitable rooms, find speakers, and in Michael’s case, he as been able to acquire some nice goodies to give-away.

On the goodies front, I’ll be coming with a few surprises thanks to the NetBeans team. We should also thank Aaron Houston for sending some nice things from Sun MicroSystems. Aaron’s role in Sun is to manage the Java Champions program and to his credit, he has always been very responsive and supportive of our efforts. Sun is a big company and like any big company, it can be difficult to navigate at times.
