Performance Down Under

posted Tuesday, 20 November 2007

I have come to an agreement with Ecetra to offer my performance tuning seminar in Sydney, Canberra, and Melbourne Australia. Scheduled dates are December 11, 12, and 13. I'll also be doing an onsite presentation so it will be an action packed week.

I've done many presentations and the ones that enjoy the best are the ones were we actually get to tune. So the focus of this seminar is presenting enough material to get started and then presenting the rest in the context of an exercise. The most important things when performance tuning are process, environment, and tools. The presentation portion will focus on our process, how to ready an environment, and a short list of some very useful (open source and freely available) tools.

A number of people who has attended this seminar has remarked afterward that it has changed the way they view both performance and performance tuning. They've commented on how different an activity it is from pure development. The most satisfying comments come from those that have told me that the prescribed process has allowed them to more easily find and squish performance bottlenecks in their applications.

I'm looking forward to getting down under. I will most likely be spending most of my time in Melbourne so if you're there and would like to meet up, drop me a line.
